Lollipops

S found two lollipops today and brought them to me to open. One was chocolate flavored and the other blueberry. I opened the chocolate one for him and opened the other one for me. Poor K, she was left with none, which was okay, because I didn't want to lollipop maintenance duty.

After about two minutes, S decides he wants mine, so he gives K his, which she gladly takes and he expects mine to be handed right to him. Well, I like mine and I'm not giving it to him. Sorry son. He bursts into tears and cries and cries and I'm on the phone.

S realizes I'm not yielding. So he goes back for his original lollipop, but K really likes it. She is not giving it up and a battle ensues, and she successfully defends and retains possesion of the lollipop. At this point, I swear she raises it above her head and shakes it at him, taunting poor S into more tears. I leave, I'm on the phone still trying to carry on a conversation.

As I'm walking to try to get away from the noise, S starts following me, bringing his screams and whining with him. I start walking faster but I can't shake him, but I wear him down. He stops and goes back to K, who finally grows weary of it and drops on the floor. S doesn't even bother to pick it up.

Minutes later, the lollipop battle is over. At least I got to finish mine.

The DD working the night shift

It's almost 2am and S has just gotten to bed. K didn't get to bed too much earlier. I came home late playing foosball (Texas State is this weekend, trying to get some practice in if I participate) and I guess I undid all of Kim's hard work settling them down. It was worth it though, I love playing with the DD.

While we were wrestling around on the bed, I hugged S and told him that I loved him. He replied,"I love you too, Daddy." He's told me before, but tonight it really touched me.

With K getting more and more aggressive, she was going crazy climbing all over S and me. I loved holding both of them in my arms while listening to them laugh uncontrollably. I don't know if anything sounds as sweet to me as my children laughing.

S has a ingrown toenail problem on his big toe on his left foot I think. We cut his nails too short. K developed some sort of rash on the back of her right? leg. It really concerns me. It doesn't seem to be tender or itchy.

Called that company I got a lead on yesterday. I was able to get the name and number of the HR manager. No openings apparently, looks like it was bad lead. I did send her my resume and cover letter for their file in case something opens up. Really a disappoint for me.

Looking for candy

Good day, so far. The DD were both fed, changed, and dressed by 11am. S and I had a talk about his listening skills. He's been testing me lately. We'll see how it goes.

S found candy in the bathroom drawer and has been nice enough to share it with us. If only he could open it and break it himself, K and I wouldn't even get a taste.

Kim, my wife, just turned us down for lunch again. Apparently she commited to lunch with her friend, Renee. I guess we're not cool enough to hang out with her.

Last night I used one of the baby strollers to help me lug in the 5 gallon bottle of water from the car. I didn't get a chance to return it so it's in the kitchen. When we are out and about, K can't stand the thing, however, she can't get enough of it while it's sitting here. She's been climbing all over it and using as her personal lounger. Go figure.

Got a lead from a friend for employment at a company here in town. There are apparently several openings, I will explore it tomorrow. No call from any potential employer today, looks like my intuition is playing tricks with me. Another day feeling like a loser.

We dined outside this evening. The sound of traffic is really distracting to K and she also is a little freaked out with birds. It was funny watching her. S had rice and I guess he was hungry because he tried to pour his entire serving on his plate down his mouth resulting in rice in the hair, his neck, down his shirt, on his shirt. Maybe I should review their feeding schedule tomorrow.

Got a break this evening and was able to play foosball. Had a good time but I missed Kim and the DD. Returned home from playing with strawberry bubble gum for the DD, they are fighting over it as I write this. K reacted to seeing the package with dramatic gasps and a big smile. Worth every penny.

Here we go

It's early in the morning and I am still awake just finishing with the set-up of this blog. My wife and the Dynamic Duo (DD), Simon (S) and Kate (K), are asleep.

S and K look so peaceful sleeping, but don't let that fool you. The peace will continue until about 900am and then the fun begins.

Also just got my daily emails from monster.com and yahoo jobs. These emails contain job postings fitting my job search criteria (Engineering, in Austin, etc.). As usual, no luck in either search. Today, however, I have a good feeling about getting a call from an prospective employer I have already made contact with, whoever that may be.
